Wolrd Cup 2010

Well, here's a short movie about the World Cup .. It's quite bad.. The resources of the webpage where I made the movie were too poor.. And I also had a problem when I tried to publish it 'cause in order to do it I had to pay .. so I managed to copy the URL from site and paste it here..
And please let me know if you could see it! Hope you enjoy it! :)

College

Hello!

I'm not at college yet, but I can tell you something about exams because my older brother is at second year.

They have partial tests throughout the year and final exams in July and December, which they have to pass in order to be able to do the next course. I don't think there are credits for doing extra tasks, but what I do know is that they usually have to present a paper and then a board made up of professors will ask them questions about it.

As regards summer holidays, they start at the end of November and finish on the first days of March. However, undergraduate students have to sit for exams in November and December, and may have to study during the holidays if they have to resit an exam. Their classes generally start in the middle of March.

Today, winter is starting here in Argentina, even though it has been very cold lately.

Warm regards,

Georgina

USA and our students at PFUR University in Moscow

Recently a group of students from Omaha, the USA, visited our university. It was an exciting week for all, full of events and sightseeings. There was a conference with guests from other Moscow universities and on-line with 2 other Russian universities. The USA students made their presentations in English and Russian(!!!). I think exchange projects are so important and educating for all -studentsa and teachers. But unfortunately they are rare. That's why the Internet projects like your blog-class provides great opportunity.

When do you have summer holiday? When do your exams start? Do you have exams or just credits? Our students have both.

The mistery of yawning

While i was studying in my bedroom, after our daily english class, i couldn´t avoid yawing 10 or 12 times, which made me remember one of the many topics we had discussed.

I read some theories about why do we yawn(what made me yawn even more :P). The first theory i found says something similar to what francis was trying to explain to us in class, that people yawn because they are bored or tired, so we don´t breathe as deeply as we usually do and our body take in less oxygen because their breathing has slowed. As a result, yawning helps us bring more oxygen into the blood and move more carbon dioxide out of the blood. However, this teory was discarded after several tests (studies have shown that breathing more oxygen does not decrease yawning).

Another theory is that yawning stretches the lungs and lung tissue. Stretching and yawning may be a way to flex muscles and joints, increase heart rate, and feel more awake.

I hope this information was useful. If someone finds another theory, i will be very interesting in reading it.
